La rapida diffusione del calcestruzzo armato deve essere principalmente ascritta alla plasmabilità di questa pietra artificiale. The widespread use of concrete can be ascribed to this artificial stone’s malleability. The fact that it can be shaped in all kinds of forms makes it a material truly at the service of the architect’s imagination. Visual concrete is widely used in different projects, ranging from historical architecture to infrastructures, industrial building and residential houses and apartments. When the structure’s appearance is of high importance, concrete must be used that differ from traditional mixtures. The surface’s quality depends on its composition and the performance of the concrete used, as well as a series of factors that have to do with the work’s design and execution. The present article aims to describe all these parameters and to define visual concrete specifications.
